Kelly Gant
Kelly's interest in the body arts began in her late 20's when she developed a chronic hip and back problem while training for endurance runs both on her own and through the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training. Also during her late 20's, Kelly began to develop symptoms of Fibromyalgia, which is a chronic pain illness that causes musculoskeletal and soft tissue pain as well as deep fatigue. Little did she know that these two events would change the course of her career and her life.
Kelly attended her first yoga class in 2002 and felt like she'd found home. She completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training through CITYOGA in 2009. Her love of Yin Yoga was discovered while taking a workshop at CITYOGA. She has since had the privilege of studying with Paul Grilley and has received her Yin Yoga: Practice and Theory Teacher Training certificate. In addition, Kelly is a Pilates instructor who received her 500-hour certification through Body Arts and Science International. She is also a reflexologist, who received her 200-hour certification through the IUPUI Reflexology program. Kelly has a special interest in working with people who are challenged with chronic illnesses, working with older adults and teaching yoga to children with special needs.
Kelly graduated from Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis with a BA in Communication Studies. Her background, prior to working in the body arts, included working for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, working in Advertising and Promotions, creating and managing an inner-city elementary literacy and social competency program and helping her husband build his software company.
